About Stormy Acres Alpacas

Stormy Acres Alpacas is home to Joe and Patti Hodge, 2 border collies, 3 barn cats, 8 llamas and a growing herd of alpacas, we are located in mid-southern Indiana among the small town of Whiteland, easily accessible from I-65. We began our adventure with alpacas after visiting several farms, gathering information, and attending a hands on seminar, where we learned to trim toe nails, yea! At this point there was no turning back we were in love with these beauitful, gentle creatures... We purchased our first alpacas, 2 bred females and a young male alpaca in July of 1996, before the end of the year we also added a gentle gelded llama as a guard.
We are a small farm continually striving to perfect the quality of our fiber and conformation of the alpacas, breeding and training our animals to ensure a very handler-friendly animal with a gentle personality.
Our herd consists of a variaty of beautiful colors including our personal color favorite the different shades of gray.
We enjoy going to and showing our animals in 3 to 4 Alpaca shows a year. It is wonderful after a long cold winter to get to socialize with all of our alpaca friends and of course the main topic of discussion is our beloved animals.

Foggy Day

Joe has found his second job as a designer and carpenter of fences. barns, hay feeders, obstacles, stalls and all of the little adjustments needed in and around the barn. Although he takes great pride in his carpentry, his favorite job is spoiling all the animals. They wait patiently beside him, lining up for their evening back rub.
Patti loves fiber, hence her co-owned business, FiberAntics. She enjoys learning, teaching and making everything possible with alpaca fiber. She travels with her fiber partner Nancy Talley, attending Fiber Art shows and festivals selling and showing off her creations.
