It all began with a visit to Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival. Being a knitter & weaver, I decided I would like to learn to spin and raise the fiber animal as well. After viewing more breeds of sheep than I ever imagined existed, I came upon an Ameripaca pen with three very intriguing animals within. Two were round and fluffy and one had long twisted locks. That was my very first sight of a suri alpaca. It was love at first sight. After researching alpacas and deciding how to begin, another epiphany happened. The farm next door was purchased by a couple from Michigan who raised — of all things — alpacas! Since YB Normal Farms brought alpacas right to my front door, the least I could do was purchase a couple and start my own farm. In November 2004, Dun Roving Farm was born with the purchase of a beautiful maroon suri named Autumn’s Grace and her trusty huacaya sidekick, Little Lyza Jane. And the rest, as writers often say, is history! Situated in western New York on 40 acres of rolling hills and woods, Dun Roving Farm is home to 13 suris and two huacayas. I’d love to have you visit.
