We want to give you the great support that we have been shown and share the knowledge we've gained through our experiences to get you off to a good start. We want you to feel comfortable with your precious animals. We have made wonderful friends with other alpaca owners and find alpaca owners are a family. We welcome you to becoma a part of this family! We enjoy the lifestyle these alpacas offer. Yes, there is some work and effort involved, but it is well worth it! We enjoy pulling up a lawn chair and watching these gentle animals and the herd dynamics. It is very rewarding to see them grow from a little 13-23 pound cria who is just learning to stand up to a full grown alpaca until they have their own cria. Our farm is 6 acres in size. It consists of our house, large pole barn, and pasture. We are presently in the process of building more pastures to accommodate our growing herd. We presently have 44 alpacas. We have two Great Pyrenees, who are excellent livestock guardian dogs. We welcome visitors who are interested in Alpacas, even the curious. We love to talk alpaca! |

Our interest in alpacas started in late 2002 when we read an article about them in a magazine. Prior to that time, we did not even know that they existed. We visited our first farm that fall. For the next couple of years, we visited other farms, attended shows and seminars, learning as much as we could about alpacas. The next major step was purchasing a 6 acre farm. We fulfilled our dream of moving out of the city and living to where there was open space. The final plunge was made in March 2006. We attended the Spring Fling Alpaca Show, supposedly for one day. However, late that day, we spoke with someone who had 2 yearlings for sale. We showed interest and since it was late in the day, we had to quickly find a motel room. At the end of the weekend, we owned two alpacas. The next step was the planning. We needed to design pens, design a business plan, and perform other functions required in starting a business. Part of this was projecting growth. With only two alpacas, it would take a very long time to have a herd of any size. Therefore, we started looking for more females. After much looking, we purchased two more females. We also purchased another male for companionship purposes. The initial purchasing phase was complete. The next major phase was building the pens. The size had to be determined and the posts placed in the ground. By late May 2006, the grounds were ready. The males came first and the females a couple of weeks later. And of course, various adjustments needed to be made. We started with a foundation herd of 3 females and 2 males. With additional purchases and births we are now up to a herd of 44 in December of 2012. It is a lifestyle that has introduced us to some of the most wonderful people in the alpaca world that we otherwise would have never met. It is a life changing experience that makes us smile. |
