What more could you ask for. We started our alpaca business in July 2007. After visiting many farms, going to shows and reading everything we could find, there was one thing that stood out to us. If you’re going to get into the alpaca business, buy the best animals you can afford and breed to the best males around, period. At Autumn Moon Alpaca Ranch we feel we’ve done just that. Don’t let our small size fool you. We already have great cria's on the ground with excellent lineage, such as Hemingway, Matador, MFI Peruvian Black Mesquite and JSFI Dakota. We'll be adding crias from JSFI Dakota, MFI Peruvian Panasche and KV Valiant so we expect to have another excellent cria season in 2009. All of our alpacas have one or more AOBA National Champion or Reserve Champion winners in their lieage.

Why did we decide raising alpacas was for us? Well we wanted something enjoyable and rewarding we could do as a family that could later be passed down to our children. After realizing that the alpaca business was a rapidly growing industry with the freedom to be our own boss we knew it was for us.

Alpacas are gentle creatures with a curious and subdued demeanor. They are quiet and easy going. Taking care of them is a simple process; they are very clean and easy to pick up after. Working with alpacas we have discovered that after finishing our chores nothing beats getting a soft “kiss” from a loving alpaca. Watching the cria’s pronking and playing in the pastures is a wonderful and rewarding site.

Our breeding program is concentrated on creating high quality fiber with a diversity of color. Investing in great male studs when breeding our females will not only give our herd better confirmation and fiber, it will also keep us on the path to creating the best alpacas for the future.
