AlpacaNation: How did you decide on your farm name? Is there a special meaning behind the name?
Alpacas 4u2c: When trying to decide on a farm name we wanted something that would catch your eye. Since we were boarding at that time and didn't know when we would be able to have our own farm I turned to my 14 yr grand daughter, Michelle, in Fl. to help us out. Michelle was using letters and numbers for her email address and we came up with this.
AlpacaNation: What sets your farm and herd apart from others in the industry?
Alpacas 4u2c: We are a small farm and trying to stay small so we have the time to work with all our new and existing clients. We are very lucky in our short 6 yrs in business to be able to sell the crias (babies) we we are breeding for. We must be doing something right as most of our crias are sold except the ones we want in our foundation.
AlpacaNation: What has been your biggest lesson learned in terms of breeding?
Alpacas 4u2c: We feel that our Alpacas from Peruvian and Chilean are both equal there fore we breed the best of the two together to make one perfect little cria. It works for us every time. All you have to do is look at our sales and sold list to see these little wonders.
AlpacaNation: If you could change one aspect of the Alpaca industry what would it be? Why?
Alpacas 4u2c: Our goal in the Alpaca business to be educate everyone on the importance of USA fiber. We have it!!! Lets use it and sell it to prove we are the best.
AlpacaNation: How long have you been in the alpaca business?
Alpacas 4u2c: We have been in business with Alpacas since 2003. A year later we moved a head and bought our own farm.
AlpacaNation: How did you become interested in alpacas?
Alpacas 4u2c: The same way many of us found out about these wonderful Alpacas, the T.V. After that we were hooked.
AlpacaNation: What is your greatest achievement or favorite memory since you started raising alpacas?
Alpacas 4u2c: There is nothing more exciting than having a healthy cria born in front of you even if your boarding. Now I have to change my memory. One on our moms went into labor with her 2nd cria but only one leg and head was out. I called my husband, Lee, home from work and if it hadn't been for him being able to help the little girl get her legs turned around we might have lost her. We are signed up for a neo-nato class the following month but thanks to all the books, AN Forum, and other farms, Lee knew how to save this little perfect female cria. WAIT! a few days later here comes the next one and he is coming out up side down. So once again Lee had to help out and the little guy is growing fast and both crias are very healthy.
The story keeps going on. Visiting friends in TN they get a call from a neighboring Alpaca farm that their female was in labor. Long labor and the cria is coming out up side down. Lee was the only one who knew how to deliver him and both are doing fine.
AlpacaNation: What advice would you give to those just getting started in the industry?
Alpacas 4u2c: Do your home work and follow your heart.
AlpacaNation: Do you have a favorite Alpaca? Why is it your favorite?
Alpacas 4u2c: Yes I have a favorite Alpaca it is all of my pacas. I could never just pick one they are so special to me. Now with more new crias and all females pregnant I can say I will never be able to just have one special one they are all wonderful pacas even the boys.
