Just cleaned pens. In two piles there was this thick gooey white stuff. It kind of looked like dough and had that strechy thing going too. It wasn't a lot so it either came from a cria or was mixed in with some normal adult poop, from and adult. It didn't look like tape, but than I have never seen it in real life. Could it be a plug? I have a couple girls due, but if it was that I doubt it would be in two piles.
Anyone ever see this.

If anyone has delivered within the last week, my guess would be partially dried lochia, but I'd be doing a tail check, too.

Could be a mucous plug - most of ours have been white and opaque. Don't know why you'd find two at once - unless it came out in pieces? They are noticeably tough to break apart.
Or - ??
Maybe a Bay in a day or two . . . .

I would look for any other signs of wetness -- wet or crusty tails. I always would clean it all up and that way if it happens again you know who was responsible for it. If you had a recent birth, up to two weeks ago, you can get some discharge. Plugs for me for impending births we've only seen a couple of times and it looks like slightly pink jello or like a chunk of strawberry milkshake. Remember it may be wetter and drying out in the sun. But watch the color and if it gets cloudier/pale green/yellow it could mean an infection. I was told that clear or whitish was fine.

Hi Ruthann
What signs would I look for? What would cause that?

Thanks

Time for a tail check! I have seen something similar and one of my gals ended up having a uterine infection, mine was really gooey, but if it had been out there for a bit it could have gotten rubbery in the hot dry weather. Check under tails for any other signs.
