Hello all!

I am looking into loose minerals for our alpacas. Can anyone give me a suggestion on what kind to use? We have loose minerals for our goats (Ragland sheep & goat) but I'm not sure if they would be okay for the alpacas. Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you,
Sarah Taylor

We switched our animals to the Mapleton Vetplex Metabolizer in December, and are very happy with it. The animals LOVE it and eat it readily, it has chelated minerals which are more readily absorbed, and also includes probiotics which aide in digestion & stress relief. It is more expensive, but it does not get wasted, and I believe in the long run is more cost effective and better for the animals than anything else we've tried.

Sarah,
I use stillwater 104. Sue uses Mapleton.
We're both right, and both wrong.
There are Stillwater, Cache le poudre, mapleton, all better formulated for different environments.
Find out what is lacking where you are, and add accordingly

We also use Stillwater minerals. Our alpacas seem to like them plus, they are right down the road.

We use Dr. Evan's minerals and fiber nutrients along with his feed. We love the complete program. 65 colored alpacas with no nose fiber loss. Best of luck with your research. I agree with the other post that you need to use a product that fills your farms mineral gap, which may be different than anothers.
