We have a small farm with only 3 male alpaca in Illinois. I was wondering if there were other farms nearby that would be willing to help us out with the shearing this spring. We just got the boys last May, and when we bought them we helped shear them that day in nothern Illinois, but we live four hours south of where we bought them. We are about 30 minutes north of Alton, Il. If anyone knows of anyone doing shearing in the area, please let me know.
I don't know if you are a member of Facebook or not; but, if you are there is a page called Paca This. There are people from all over that are shearing their animals in the near future. Perhaps you could post there also and see if you can find someone that would let you bring your boys for shearing.
If you click on the 'Alpaca Farms' (above and in black area) a page will come up with a zip code search area. You can call the farms nearest you and maybe find one you could go to on shearing day. You could also check the services link for shearers near you.
