Now that all my females are spitting, I am in the midst of re-integrating my adults males. I have plans for a "stud row" for males next year, with access to a wintering pasture, but this year I have to move them around piecemeal. What a PIA

Last night I tried putting two of them together - one immediately attacked the other. So back to their seperate pens. Tonight I put chase and another male together - chaser immediately chased, but orgling his head off this time. His pasture mate ran, but eventually they settled down. All three of these males have been in with females until a few days ago. I thought the behavior difference was interesting.

I put last nights chased male in with my 2 year olds and gelding - they got along immediately without any problem. I have two that have been together all summer, and will put them in with the two from tonight after I make another pen.

The more the merrier is my motto... bigger groups..less hassle..also.. this worked .. if you have a "new" area to move them all too.. it's new to all and nobody feels it is their territory.
