February 4, 2012 - Chardono OH Fecal Workshop and Parasite Control Seminar with Dr. Ed and Dr. Ruthanne: In this full day learning-intensive, hands-on workshop, you will not only learn how to do your own fecal exams, you will also learn when to do them and why. You will learn how to incorporate them into a comprehensive parasite control program that includes a wide variety of simple preventive measures that you can easily add to your farm management toolkit. You will learn that by doing more fecals and more parasite prevention you will end up using expensive chemical dewormers much less frequently but far more effectively than you ever have before - ultimately making your herd healthier and happier, your wallet fatter and the environment safer. Dr Ed and Dr. Ruthanne are well known in the alpaca community as veterinarians and alpaca breeders who are able to discuss complex veterinary medical issues in language that everyone can understand. They are very popular speakers at alpaca educational events all over the country. For this workshop they invite you into their home and farm for an in depth educational experience and some down home hospitality. Each class is limited to four participants so that each of you can get individualized instruction. Class starts at 9:00 am and finishes at 5:00 pm. The cost is $350 per person or $500 for two people from the same farm. Cost includes a parasitology text book, a complete set of notes, a set of large color photographs of the many parasites and pseudoparasites that you will be learning about, and a kit with everything you need to get started except for the microscope and centrifuge (all solutions, strainers, cups, slides, cover slips, pipettes, gauze, mailers, centrifuge tubes, holders, etc.)a very nice lunch and continuing support for as long as you wish.
