Open Alpaca Barn: Two farms, one convenient location.
Take a break from the Memorial Day Winery Tours to meet the alpacas and (maybe) their new babies up close and handle their luxurious fleece.
The Barn Store will be stocked with teddy bears, sweaters, scarves, & other alpaca products, many hand-crafted.
Hand-spinners, knitters, & other fiber artists will find fleece and yarn. Many of the yarns are in one of the alpacas’ natural colors, spun from the fleece of a single animal. Bring your camera and get a shot of the alpaca who provided the raw material for your next project.
Visitors can chat with four long-time livestock breeders who've raised llamas, horses, sheep, and goats. They've found that alpacas are a perfect match for owners of small acreages or for crafters looking for their own four-legged fiber producers. Both farms offer alpacas for sale along with boarding options.
Open Saturday & Sunday of Memorial Day weekend from 10:00 to 4:00.

Love those True Blacks? Join us as we learn about the fascinating world of color genetics and EPD's in camelids. Industry expert, Dr. Andy Merriwether, will teach this interesting 6 hour class.

Dr. Andrew Merriwether,Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Anthropology and Biology Director Graduate Studies for the Department of Anthropology at Binghamton University in New York. His research involves identifying the genes involved in coat and skin color of camelids. He has written several articles on alpaca color genetics including BEW’s. Dr. Merriwether and his wife own Nyala Farms in Southern New York.
