9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Workshop
Silver Spoon Alpacas LLC – Creswell, Oregon (just outside Eugene)
Join us for an alpaca neonatal seminar and wet lab clinic with Dr. Pat Long, one of the country’s leading experts in camelid care. Dr. Long co-authored the textbook on neonatal practice, Llama and Alpaca Neonatal Care, and has been working as a vet with llamas and alpacas for almost thirty years.
The seminar will be hosted at Silver Spoon Alpacas LLC, near Eugene, Oregon. We will have classroom and lecture time, with plenty of opportunity for questions, covering topics such as how to diagnose and treat dystocias, uterine torsion, prolapsed uterus, gestational development, general care and nutrition during pregnancy and labor, and how to handle a high risk cria.
Breakfast snacks and a vegetarian gourmet lunch will be served, and in the afternoon, we will do a “wet lab” with the opportunity to practice fixing dystocias on uterine simulators and donated cria.
This will give you the confidence and experience you need to handle a difficult birth.
Cost is $175 per person plus $25 per farm for a copy of Dr. Long’s Neonatal book. Please register early as there are a limited number of remaining spaces for this wonderful educational opportunity.
