Enchanted Hill Alpacas
When selecting breeding stock, we kept two points in mind:
(1) Our alpacas must be calm and friendly.
(2) The fiber must be interesting, suitable for spinning, & a delight to work with.

Ore Hill Amber

Light Brown, 830581, Full Chilean

Amber is one of the first females purchased for our herd. Even though described on her registraton as "light brown", she is a beautiful mahogany color and she just glows in the sun. Amber was selected for her conformation and temperament. She is calm, friendly, never disruptive at feeding time, and shows wonderful maternal instincts.

    Pattern, 842062, 1/4 Chilean, 3/4 Peruvian

Spot, as we call Xus, joined our herd in the spring of 2005. He almost immediately settled three of our females.

Update! Twelve beautiful crias have arrived and all look terrific!

Spot's dense fleece is amazingly free of guard hair, and as can be seen from his fiber analysis, the character of his fleece is much like that of a soft cria. When his fiber is spun into yarn, the colors blend to produce a lovely dark fawn color. And talk about how it feels against the skin...Wow!!!

The most special feature of Spot's fleece is his appaloosa pattern. His spots are prominent and numerous--just like we wanted. All of his crias will be special, but those that inherit his spots will be super special and quite unique! Check out his son, Enchanted Hill TyeDye (in our "Sold" list), who not only inherited his father's spots, but his wonderful temperament as well.

Enchanted Hill Faybian Sold!

Listed by Ed & Joanie Kinser of Bent Mountain, VA

Print Listing | Certificate | Histogram

Faybian was born during the 5-inch downpour we received as the remnants of Hurricane Faye passed on the Blue Ridge Mountains. Not to be dampened by the rainy weather, Fabian was up and nursing in minutes and never shivered, even with the cool, damp weather. He's been running and growing ever since, and now spends hours sparring with his new buddy, Freckles.

At present, Faybian looks so very similar to an older sister, Third-Times-Charm (who may be seen in the Enchanted Hill "Sold" list), that we would bet on him as being a great fiber animal and possibly herdsire material. However, at the moment we're going to list him for sale for fiber, and offer him packages with his friend for $700.

Call for more photos and information. He'll be available around March '09 after being weaned.
