Andes Farm Fiona

Medium Fawn, 30343740, 1/4 Chilean, 3/4 Peruvian

Fiona was the very first female alpaca we bought. We first saw her at the tender age of 3 months and were captivated by her huge dark eyes. She is so precious to us that we would have a hard time ever selling her.

She is a total people 'paca, politely personable with visitors. She is also a prima donna with her herdmates, and her young daughter Aurora is the same. As Fiona was named for the strong-willed wife of Shrek, her queen-bee attitude fits her well.

Fiona has produced two spectacular crias for us--light fawn Triton in 2007, a grandson of Caligula, and white Aurora in 2008, a granddaughter of Maine's own Evander. Both of these offspring are show quality. Fiona herself was only shown once at the 2006 NAAS, where Judge Mike Safley commented on her impressive style and beautiful head.

Fiona has been bred to Andes Farm Quechua (PCA Microsoft grandson) for a fall 2009 delivery.

  Andes Farm Quechua
    Light Brown, 30343801, 1/2 Chilean, 1/2 Peruvian

Quechua is one of the best alpacas to come out of our breeding program. He is a solid young male with large bones and a very typey head. He has carried on the superior fiber characteristics of his father Mustang--impressive density with shiny, crimpy bundles from the root to the tip. His handle is above average for his color.

His temperament is extremely calm--even visitors are able to approach and handle him with ease. We expect him to pass his personality, his conformation and his beautiful fleece onto his offspring and are confident he will produce show-quality cria for any breeding program he is part of.

With Quechua being a younger male amidst an established breeding program, we are anxious to get him some outside work. We are offering him for breeding services at a fee much lower than his histogram stats and show record call for. This is a great chance to include a breeding to a superior male in your 2009 plans.

Upper Farm's Zephyr

Listed by Nicole & Greg Carter of Pownal, ME

Print Listing | Certificate | Histogram

Zephyr is the product of terrific bloodlines--Hemmingway, Bueno, Calludio and PCA Microsoft, and he is one of those rare alpacas that may just might be better than both of his parents. His fiber forms well organized bundles with impressive crimp; it's the quality you don't usually see in non-white animals.

Combine Zephyr's sweet and gentle personality with his good looks and beautiful fleece and you have the perfect alpaca. He is available as a fiber male.

  Awards Received
VT Spectacular 2010-6th in the most competitive male class of the show.

ME Fiber Frolic Fleect Show 2011 - First in colored alpaca class and Best of Show for all alpaca classes.

ME Fiber Frolic Fleece Show 2012 - First in Fawn Class and Best of Show for all alpaca classes. Among the judge's remarks: even looking to the edges of the blanket his micron maintained its uniformity; and his few primary fibers are almost on par with his secondaries. it doesn't get much better than that!
