Enchanted Hill Alpacas
When selecting breeding stock, we kept two points in mind:
(1) Our alpacas must be calm and friendly.
(2) The fiber must be interesting, suitable for spinning, & a delight to work with.

Enchanted Hill Athena

Medium Brown, 30515949, 3/4 Chilean, 5/8 Peruvian

Athena (Booboo around the farm) is a special alpaca who had a difficult first day. Successfully delivered by our vet, Athena tried to avoid being born by having her front legs neatly tucked beneath her on her delivery date. After a long first night she made a quick trip to the local vet school where a couple of hours of oxygen helped her turn the corner. By the next day, Athena was tearing around the barn. After the difficult delivery, Mom Izzy was too interested in providing milk so Athena was supplemented with fresh goat's milk for the first couple of weeks. Finally, mom's milk supply reached a normal level, but in the meantime, Athena had decided that humans were good to have available, especially at mealtimes. Now, many months later, Athena is friendly, but not pushy, and is wonderful to have around. Any future owners will have to answer numerous questions on their adoption application if they would like to add Athena to their family!

  Queen B Bodacious
    Pattern, 30471894, Full Peruvian

Bo is the superlative herdsire we've been waiting on, with all our requirements wrapped into one--great conformation, super fiber, laid-back personality, and an outstanding pedigree. Add to that his wonderful appaloosa spots found scattered from head to toe, and we've got a winner. Oh!!!! If he were just ready to breed! But he's worth the wait.

Summer '09 update: The ultrasound confirms we have six Bo crias on the way, due in the spring of 2010.

Bo's dam, Calliope, is from the best-known U.S. herd for producing premier appaloosas--Dewey Meadows. And Calliope just may very well be the best they've ever had. It was a smart move when Becca Black, Queen B Alpacas, purchased Calliope, a first step in creating Bo. Check out Calliope's photos to see the quintessential huacaya, dressed in appaloosa spots.

The next step in the creation of Bo was the selection of his sire, the world-renown Accoyo, Ppperuvian El Moustachio.

Enchanted Hill Applique  (Wildly spotted appy)

Listed at $4875 by Ed & Joanie Kinser of Bent Mountain, VA

Print Listing | Certificate | Histogram

We would like to have a whole herd of appaloosas. Applique is the perfect example of what we like. She is calm, has beautiful fiber, and is truly one-of-a-kind.

Though we want to keep her, she is being offered at this price for only a short time. Now that she is bred to Confetti, we can hardly bear the thoughts of selling her.

Price: $4875
