Enchanted Hill Alpacas
When selecting breeding stock, we kept two points in mind: (1) Our alpacas must be calm and friendly.(2) The fiber must be interesting, suitable for spinning, & a delight to work with.

Enchanted Hill Oh-Be-Joyful

Medium Fawn, 1287035, 1/2 Chilean, 1/2 Peruvian

Oh-Be-Joyful was named because of unique spirit. At just a couple of weeks of age, Oh-Be was the most playful cria in the herd, flinging herself around in full abandon! If no young herdmates were interested in playing, she'd run into one of the adults and was always wearing at least a small amount of green spit. Finally, if no one would pay her some attention, she'd leave the whole herd and run off to find her little goat friends, one of which she'd seek out to do a little nose-to-nose greeting.

With Oh-Be's personality, beautiful and crimpy fawn fiber, and her Peruvian/Chilean hybrid blend, we have retained her as a breeder in our appaloosa program.

  Queen B Bodacious
    Pattern, 30471894, Full Peruvian

Bo is the superlative herdsire we've been waiting on, with all our requirements wrapped into one--great conformation, super fiber, laid-back personality, and an outstanding pedigree. Add to that his wonderful appaloosa spots found scattered from head to toe, and we've got a winner. Oh!!!! If he were just ready to breed! But he's worth the wait.

Summer '09 update: The ultrasound confirms we have six Bo crias on the way, due in the spring of 2010.

Bo's dam, Calliope, is from the best-known U.S. herd for producing premier appaloosas--Dewey Meadows. And Calliope just may very well be the best they've ever had. It was a smart move when Becca Black, Queen B Alpacas, purchased Calliope, a first step in creating Bo. Check out Calliope's photos to see the quintessential huacaya, dressed in appaloosa spots.

The next step in the creation of Bo was the selection of his sire, the world-renown Accoyo, Ppperuvian El Moustachio.

Enchanted Hill Groucho Marx Sold!

Groucho is named for his large eyebrows. He is not grouchy at all. In fact, he's as sweet and calm as can be. And that is actually a family trait. His sire, his mom and her siblings, his sister--all extremely calm.

Groucho has wonderful fiber and is priced as a fiber male, but he has potential for being a herdsire. The buyer will receive his DNA card and his completed registration application and can decide "down the road" whether or not to use Groucho for breeding purposes. With this in mind, the price is right!
