Enchanted Hill Alpacas
When selecting breeding stock, we kept two points in mind:
(1) Our alpacas must be calm and friendly.
(2) The fiber must be interesting, suitable for spinning, & a delight to work with.

Big Willows Monique

Light Fawn, 1032772, Full Peruvian

Monique is coming to Enchanted Hill because she can bring some new and exciting Peruvian genetics to our herd. As a proven mom, she has delivered and raised three healthy crias. One of her crias, Wind Crest Carme is a gorgeous appaloosa, and Monique is being rebred to Carme's sire, Hobby Horse Farm Great Expectations, in the hope of producing an equally nice and colorful cria Fall 2013.

Monique is a beautiful fading fawn color. Her fiber, used in yarn and roving, has brought comments and complements on its softness, with purchasers saying how much they enjoy using Monique fiber in their crafts. At Enchanted Hill, we look forward to incorporating Monique's yarn in our varied knitting and weaving projects.

Monique is presently not for sale.

Now, if she could please hurry up and get to Virginia!

  Hobby Horse Farm Great Expectations
Bay Black, 851635, Peruvian & Chilean

Great Expectations, also known as Dickens, is an outstanding bay black son of SA Peruvian Black Epic and Hobby Horse Farm's Bonbon. Great Expectations is likely the source of Carme's appaloosa gene, inherited from his sire, SA Peruvian Black Epic.

Print Listing | Certificate | Histogram

Carme appears to be a medium fawn girl with spots of every shade of fawn, brown and black--the typical, but rather rare, appaloosa. When you examine her fiber, you can see gray fibers throughout her entire body. Her face has the characteristic spots that identify the colorful appies. And not only does Carme have unique fleece colors, her histogram reveals outstanding fiber characteristics with an AFD of 18.18, an SD of 3.33 and a CF of 99.71%. What nice yarn her fiber produces!

Carme offers strong genetics, including SA Peruvian Black Epic on her sire's side and Pperuvian Felix on her dam's side. Carme's present mate is FPA Abacus, a handsome, dark fawn herdsire with great fleece character. This pair should produce an exceptional cria, and hopefully one with lots of spots.

Carme is not presently for sale.
