Orchid is a rare talent. She is sound in conformation with excellent coverage. Most notably, she is a nice sized girl. She also features incredibly soft fleece. She is true black out of the deceased legendary grey herdsire Silver Charm. She is still young and has many years of birthing ahead of her. Her mothering skills are impeccable; they are among the best on the farm. She is very encouraging to her crias. Orchid is quite vocal at food time and tends to be bossy, however is nonetheless charming and gorgeous. She would make an incredible and influential producer in any herd!
This young female exhibits the retained fineness her sire, Silver Charm, was so noted for. Charm was a well known and respected name in the silver herd sire lexicon. He was the "go to" guy for retained fineness well into his later years. This garnered him many 1st place fleece awards, including AOBA Nationals at the age of 5. Once owned by NeverSummer Alpacas, Carol Collins said that she was sorry that she sold him. Sadly, Charm has now passed, and Orchid is one of his last daughters, and therefore even more of a prize.
Orchid has bred true, following in Charm's footsteps. Her TB non-fading fiber has also retained its fineness (AFD 20.85 at 11 months old, and 20.05 at 23 months old), brightness and soft hand.
Orchid's dam, a beautiful MSG Danko daughter, was at the foundation of the grey herd of Las Flores del Altiplano. Her previous five babies have all been ribbon winners. She bred easily and milked like a Jersey. Orchid has inherited her beautiful head, upright conformation and has taken after her in the "bred easily" category.
Orchid delivered a beautiful classic silver grey female cria out of the the multi-champion grey herdsire "Annual's Bea-2 Bomber" in August 2015.
Orchid is now bred to Irish Meadows Shades of Silver, a five time champion, for a fall, 2018 cria.
