Big Hat's Fancy Derby

Dark Brown, 30421219

Derby is a favorite at the ranch. She's alway curious about who's visiting and has a calm, gentle nature. We didn't show her as a juvenile because I just wasn't sure about her quality until we came to shearing and off came this lovely fleece with a tiny consistent crimp-so dense-so fine-so much coverage. When we did show her this year at GWAS we won a blue ribbon. The judge commented that she is an all around animal with good conformation and a consistent crimp with a nice hand.

Derby is the daughter of Christopher B, a great outcross line.

I recently took this girl off the market because she just continues to delight us. Her fleece just got a perfect 20/20 at Fall Fest-- A DARK BROWN!! Ruth Elvestad was the judge. I was so pleased with that and the potential of the breeding we can do here that I chose to keep this exceptional animal.

Derby hasn't disappointed us with her first cria, the image of her mother,Derby's Echo. 2nd place Futurity 2011

  Still River's Blade Runner
    Appaloosa, 32111996

From the moment I first saw his pictures I knew he needed to be part of my appaloosa breeding program. I had tried to lease his sire, but after seeing the fiber on this fabulous male I'm happy that I contacted Still River Alpacas and picked him up at the National show.

In late April I decided that that fleece needed to come off ASAP and so he was entered in composite class at GWAS- 1st place! Check out the size of this fleece spread out to be examined by the judge!

Now Runner has started his breeding career! 3 crias 3 females- a white, a brown, and yes, an APPY. All beautiful.

Several of the girls I'm breeding him to are for sale so please check them out.

The product of my best dam, Big Hat's Fancy Derby, and my fabulous herdsire, Still River's Blade Runner. El is very likely to produce a champion as she is bred to Camoflage BHAR who is the sire of her multi-champ brother, Syncopation.

I was unsure if she was bred until I took her to the Minturn Market along with another girl and her hormones were on public display. We will provide an ultrasound if you wish to purchase her.

She is very gentle and produces a large speckled fleece. For appy lovers her cria is by World Champion Appy, Camoflage. Camo has produced both solid and appaloosa champions.

El's sire, Runner, produces a first place fleece every year and it's huge! He's maintaining fineness, staple and character and every year he's a favorite at shearing to watch his amazing spots flow off.
