When selecting breeding stock, we kept two points in mind: (1) Our alpacas must be calm and friendly.(2) The fiber must be interesting, suitable for spinning, & a delight to work with.

Marguerite De Valois

Medium Fawn, 825819, Peruvian & Chilean

The daughter of Peruvian Pizarro's Goldrush, Marguerite is from the east coast so she adds new blood lines to our ranch. She has the tuxedo look that goes along with the gray color genetics in her background. Marguerite's fleece has nice crimp and good staple length.

Marguerite came to us with a Medium Fawn boy that is amazing. He has crimp and staple length that are amazing for a juvenile his age. Hobo's staple length was measured at shearing and he was 5 inches long at 10 months old. Hobo's micron is back and it is AWESOME!!! He is 20.5 microns with 2.9% fibers over 30 microns in his fiber! She can definitely deliver the crias that people are looking for in their programs!!

"Beautiful fiber, great conformation, and famous grandsires" are the first three characteristics that come to mind in describing this handsome, up-and-coming herdsire. Check out his fiber photo and the fiber stats if you're looking for a new male that has nice fiber and a pedigree to stand behind him.

Sparta's sire, Magical's My Peruvian Touch of Grey, was a son of the super well-known 6Peruvian Dom Timbo. Unfortunately, Touch of Grey, a beautiful herdsire, died in an accident, so that particular combination of genes is no longer available. If you're interested in producing blacks or silver greys, Sparta may be of particular interest since he has to carry a black gene from his grey sire. This genetic feature makes Sparta a bit unusual in that most alpacas carrying a black gene are much darker.

On the dam's side, Sparta's grandsire is the well-known Peruvian Pizarro's Goldrush, whose description may be seen on the Fireweed AN website. Goldrush's sire is the famous import, Peruvian Pizarro.

Sparta is co-owned by Alpacas of Maple Grove and Enchanted Hill Alpacas, and is currently residing at Maple Grove in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Call either farm to ask for additional information or to schedule a visit to see Sparta in person.
