Dougherty Creek's Shannon Christy

Medium Brown, 851596

Shannon was hand picked to be one of our foundation animals. We decided to go with quality, not quantity. She has amazing fleece with unbelievable density. In 2004, she brought home the Blue Ribbon from the AOBA Summer National Fleece Show. In 2006, she sheared a total of 8.5 pounds, 4.4 pounds in her blanket alone!
Princess Antoinette (Nettie) was Shannon’s first cria. Nettie has inherited her dam’s density with added fineness and length from her sire. Shannon’s delivery was picture perfect and she has been a doting mother with plenty of milk. We were so pleased with Shannon’s first cria; we rebred her to Alabaster for a fall 2007 cria.

  Caligula's Accoyo Alabaster
    White, 827926, Other

Alabaster is a full Accoyo son of Caligula, one of the most revered studs in the history of North American alpaca breeding. Alabasters genetics are further solidified by his outstanding Dam, PPPeruvian Urubamba, who has produced extraordinary progeny of her own.
Alabasters first crias are now on the ground and they are an impressive lot. It has become clear that his legacy will be his ability to impart increased staple length on his progeny. As hoped, the cria fleeces are long and bright, and at the 120 day mark were from 20 to 40% longer than their half siblings.
The unique fleece style he has stamped on his progeny has recently been recognized for its qualities - we have heard it referred to as “silky fleece”. Deep high amplitude crimp, long staple length (Alabaster - 5.5” at age 3) and eye popping brightness combined with uniformity from the neck through the shoulders, blanket and breech.

2003 24.7 4.1 16.6!!!

We call her Nettie (after my favorite grandmother) and celebrate her as our first born on the farm. She has inherited her dam’s presence and perfect conformation as well as amazing fleece coverage from head to toe. She’s definetly a leader and not at all bashful. At 2 months, she was pushing her way past the adults to get her share of hay and pellets. She is healthy, strong and confident and at 10 months old she has grown as tall as our other girls. She is a definate looker and will come with a full reproductive guarantee and a breeding to one of our herdsires.
