Half-Peruvian son of the great black and grey producing line, The Silversmith, Silver Dollar has crimp, luster and a fine, fine handle to his low micron fleece. He has produced many rose and silver greys when bred to grey with fine fleeces (microns of 17-19) as well as award winning black cria. He adds density, luster, crimp and handle to his cria and his coverage, which is superb. He is a farm favorite and is a great breeder, sire of 37 progeny, nearly 80% gray or black. He is owned by Chase Tavern Farm in Maine and Cas-Cad-Nac Farm of Vermont.

We are pleased to announce the addition of Silver Scorpion to our herdsire offering in partnership with David & Yvette Kirilenko of Wool & Gray Alpacas.

Silver Scorpion is the 2004 AOBA Gray Juvenile Male 1st place winner in the composite class with the highest scoring gray male fleece! Silver Scorpion's fleece has extremely uniform crimp combined with incredible luster and even silver coloring as well as unbelievable handle: 19.7 AFD in 2003, 18.5 AFD in 2004, and 20.7 AFD in 2005 - WOW! These fleece qualities combined with beautiful balance, nice proportions, perfect bite, presence, and friendly personality make Silver Scorpion an incredible herdsire.
Silver Scorpion's sire, Silver Dollar, has 34 offspring on the ground as of 1/8/06 of which 76% are black or gray. And anyone who breeds gray has heard of the great silver male, The Silversmith, Silver Scorpion's grandsire! Those great gray genes are just what we needed to refine, improve, and add diversity to our black and gray group.
Silver Scorpion has produced three crias this year at Wool and Gray Alpacas. He is currently standing at stud at Bay Springs Farm, where he has been bred to two of our females, and will be returning to Wool & Gray Alpacas in May.
Call now to reserve a breeding for 2007!
