About ALPACAS OF MOOSE CREEK RANCH

Image is being processed by ANDale and I purchased our property in 1999. He was a farm boy and wanted to get back out to the land; I was a city girl and thought it would be a great adventure! At that time, our boys were young and we didn’t know exactly what we wanted to do with the property, other than eventually build a home on it and retire. So we put up a building to house “stuff”. As the boys grew, and we thought about just want to do with the land, we discovered alpaca! We did like everyone else in the business; we started our investigation. And to our surprise, there are a lot of alpaca owners and breeders out there that love nothing more than to show off their ranches, their animals, and to mentor the newbies. At this point we decided to move some of our “stuff” around and turn a portion of that building into our home. He have added a new big barn for the ladies (and a space for the boys). We have added pasture fencing for our furry friends (and to keep out the bad furry things). Now our 40 acres, just south of Bucyrus, Kansas, is known as: Moose Creek Ranch.

The name “Moose Creek Ranch” is dedicated to our late yellow lab, Viking. Viking was such a “bull moose” in his behavior (if you’ve owned a male Lab then you know what I am talking about), we nicknamed him “Moose”. He was a fairly young lab when we purchased the property and he loved the creek and branch that run through it. Whenever we visited, we could hardly get him out of the creek to go home. Sadly, Moose never got to reside at the Ranch and, therefore it just had to become—Moose Creek Ranch. We truly, truly miss our Moose, but he is always with us at the Ranch.

As of the Fall of 2018, Alpacas of Moose Creek Ranch has, or will have, a total of 36 huacaya alpaca.

2018 Small Breeder

We have decided to concentrate our breeding efforts toward the classic greys, both rose and silver (maybe with a little fawn throw in just to add more color to our pasture). We are also striving to improve the fleece quality in each and every new generation of Moose Creek alpacas and, therefore, our breeding program is geared toward that end.

We look forward to seeing each and every one of you at the Ranch!

If you want to go grey naturally, give us a call, and have a Spit-Tacular Day!
