About Trotter Hill Alpacas

Image is being processed by ANWe come from a long line of multi-generational family owned businesses which cater to both the service industry and product sales. We know that small businesses survive only by going the extra mile (or two) and by providing the highest level of quality service and commitment.

In the alpaca industry, we are looking to establish long term relationships based on enthusiasm, sharing and trust. We are thrilled with the selection of our foundation herd; which has diverse yet exceptional bloodlines and the fleece and conformation qualities that come with great genetics. It is our goal to raise and sell a small number of high end alpacas each year and build our reputation one alpaca at a time.

Imagine That

Trotter Hill Alpacas is a small family run business that is devoted to breeding, raising and selling quality alpacas and the specialty yarn produced from their fleece. While alpacas are a recent family venture, livestock management has been a family experience since the 1960’s.In the early years, we stuck primarily to sheep and horses with the usual household pets mixed in. It has been a wonderful experience to discover that alpacas are a lot less work than horses, way more interesting than sheep, less messy than chickens and can actually pay for themselves and the rest of the household!
Now that we are firmly immersed in the alpaca business, we are thrilled with our selection of our foundation herd which has diverse yet exceptional bloodlines and the fleece and conformation qualities that come from superior genetics. It is our goal to continuously improve our animals with each new generation as we build our reputation one alpaca at a time.

We purchased our foundation herd several years ago, selecting primarily Peruvian animals, all with champion bloodlines from diverse and far reaching herd sires. Our first crop of crias were fathered by Peruvian Lancaster, Blissful Knight, Shaquille, Snowmass Nova and Formula One. Each of the crias have several qualities that really make them stand out, whether it is a velvet black color and typey face or incredible staple length and lusterious shine. All of our animals are halter broken, and have daily hands on contact which really increases the ratio of stoic over silly.
