AlpacaNation:  How did you decide on your farm name? Is there a special meaning behind the name?

PHI BETA PACA: ALPACAS of TAOS tm:  I am an avid student and immerse myself in study of my interests. When people ask me questions about a field including alpacas, such as what should I look for in huacaya fleece, I will overflow with info. If one of my friends is standing by while I am answering a question asked by a beginner, she will poke me in the ribs--gently-- say: "Frana, their eyes are starting to glaze over". If I have a fault it is to give too much information and not answer a question in a simple way. But, for me many of the answers are not that simple and have various shadings.

So when I began to toss around farm names in 2003, I was playing with words. When I thought about being teased for my quantity of info, I thought about excellence as well. "What about Phi Beta Paca (tm)?" I asked out loud. Everyone smiled. I had a name for my farm. Later I was told many times that Phi Beta Paca (tm) is catchy. So I hope when you want to talk about alpacas, shop or buy, contact me at phibetapaca@gmail.com
