What is your opinion on worming pregnant female. Dr. Evans book says not to 35 days after breeding and 45- 60 days before due date.

Hmm, maybe I have things backwards. When I started breeding alpacas, I was told no wormers 30 days prior to due date and 60 days after breeding. This always makes me nervous as we have a lot of deer around here and not giving Ivermectin seems risky. I'd be interested in hearing how other farms do it.

The white tail deer are prolific here. Our vet recommends not missing any monthly ivermectin doses. However, we do skip the one just prior to the due date. After breeding we keep to the typical schedule.

I do the ivermectin shots no matter what state of pregnancy. I have done them as shortly before as less than 24 hours, all without ill effects. I don't do the CDT shots while they are within 90 days of pregnancy. My crias get their first shot of ivermectin whenever the health day for the herd next comes around.
