I have this nasty weed that is taking over and don't know what it is. I don't want to use Roundup and am wondering if the vinegar/salt/detergent mix would work on it? I just want to know what it is--nobody around here can tell me. I'm in S. W. Ohio I posted three pictures of it on my facebook site. It has a tiny white flower and spreads like crazy.

Christiane, look up hoary asylum. We've used pasture pro with success. Do not use it on pastures with lactating moms.

I looked up hoary asylum, and it is not what I have. This weed only has one very small flower on each stem and it looks like a daisy, not a clump of flowers. The leaves are different as well. I will take it to my vet tomorrow evening. He gives monthly talks to his clients on a different topic each month, and tomorrow it will be about poisonous plants. Hopefully, he can identify it and tell me what to use to destroy that without hurting my pacas. Thanks for your response, though.

Pull them out, you don't want those. I still am looking for an identification of this weed I have and even my vet is stumped. I think I will take it to Ohio State the next chance I get a take it to their Botany dept. Surely, I can't be the only one with this weed.

For the burdock, you can cut it off at ground level and sprinkle some salt on it. I haven't tried it, but people tell me it works.

Christiane, how tall is the weed? Is it more ground-cover-like, or upright? (I didn't see the pictures on your Facebook).

The weed in question is more ground cover-like and has lots of branches that root. I was in a True Pointe store yesterday and they had charts with pictures of all kinds of weeds, but not this one.

Christiane,

Try going on the web to this address: plants.usda.gov/java/noxious

It has photos and info by state of invasive species.

I have gotten some unfamiliar weeds too in hay from other states when there was a drought.

Email me a pic of your weed up close with leaves & flowers please?

No to camomille. It has tiny white flowers that look like a daisy, but only one flower on a stem, not a bunch. I will try to email some pictures

Christiane, check out bedstraw. Very common invasive weed, especially in hay fields.
