We had a beautiful baby cria born yesterday morning. Perfect birth, up and running from the get-go. She weighed in at 18.93 lbs, nursed right as soon as she was standing, and did all of the things just right. The only problem is it looks like she has a labial fusion and is having trouble urinating. We are taking her to our vet this morning, but she may refer us out to a specialist. We live practically in between Purdue University and Michigan State. Does anyone have any recommendations for either one? Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

I can't help with a recommendation as I don't know much about either location. I do hope your little girl does well though. Hopefully somebody from your area with more experience with the facilities you asked about will respond soon.

I have heard good things about both of them. When I had to have my feed checked, Ohio State Vet Hospital recommended Michingan, but both seem to have good vet hospitals for camelids. I would use the one that is closest because when time is of the essence, it might make a difference.

Thank you Judith and Christiane. We ended up taking her to Michigan State as it was crucial that she got treated as soon as possible. Their team of vets were fantastic. Our little cria had surgery and is currently spending the night there with her mom. Hopefully, she will be able to urinate properly and we will be able to take her home tomorrow.

Thanks again!

That's terrific! Hope everything went well and she's home and peeing up a storm for you.
