Ok, I have to ask. I received a call today from a friend that I had bred one of my males to one of her females spring of 2013. She sent in the blood card to register the cria, and ARI is saying my male is not the sire. We have had NO escapes here, never a gate left open....and I'm meticulous about keeping records on breedings, who's bred to who, when, how long the breeding took place, etc. QUESTION - has anyone ever had experience with ARI being wrong with the DNA results? Thank you!!

Check with ARI and see if there is just an issue with how many DNA markers match. If it is an older male you may have to do another blood draw to update his markers. We had a cria born 2012, hands on breeding so we knew who did what with whom. Sold the female cria this year unregistered but sent in the card for the new owners and they got the call saying it wasn't the right male/sire. I called ARI and they said to retest our male. Amazing how the DNA can change for the same animal but with the retest it confirmed he was the sire and now he has more DNA markers so we should not have that issue again with him.
