 milking an alpaca

I was wonting to know if there is an easy way to milk an alpaca as I have a new mum and she is so large that the cria can not nurse off of her

i am sorry that no one is helping you. It seem the forum is little used any more. Is the dam calm if you try to milk her? I have seldom had to milk, but I remember hearing it is not the easiest. I think it is more successful if you just use 2 fingers to try to milk. I hope someone more experienced will answer. I wonder if warm compresses will help, but that is just a guess.
